Brussels Beer Challenge: We Won!

Buried in Hops been awarded a Certificate of Excellence atΒ the 2019 Brussels Beer Challenge!

The Brussels Beer Challenge took place from 1st – 3rd November in Mons, Belgium, with this 8th edition featuring 1,650 beers, judged by a panel of beer experts to evaluate competing beers in an objective, impartial and professional manner. During the tasting, beer entries were divided into 60 consistent flights based on their origin, typicity and style.

This is the first time we’ve ever entered the Brussels Beer Challenge, so to come away with a Certificate of Excellence is awesome!

Buried in Hops is our double IPA with aΒ dense tropical fruit flavour, courtesy of a large hop addition in the whirlpool, with a clean, bitter finish. Slight herbal, piney notes on theΒ nose due to the Simcoe dry hop, which complements the citrus fruit and coconut aroma from a healthy dose of Sabro, and a second dry hop.Β

New Beer: IMENSO

Introducing…IMENSO

Our brand new full-bodied imperial stout is conditioned on Amburana wood, and weighs in at 11% ABV. This beer is a collaboration with our friend Rubens from Blend Bryggeri in Brazil, who joined us in our Newcastle taproom back in August to brew this.

Expect notes of dark chocolate, liquorice and cinnamon. Read more on our Beers page

And if you’re wondering what the heck Amburana is, we’ll save you a google: Amburana trees grow in the forests of South America, and their wood gives the beer a warm, spicy character within a relatively short extraction time.

Where to get your hands on some:

πŸ‘‰ Only 1 cask is being released as a mega special edition for Independent Salford Beer Festival
